Game Key Regions Explained: EU, US, and Global
Published 7/10/2026
What a region lock restricts
A region-locked key only activates on an account (or from an IP address, depending on the platform) in the countries it was issued for. It's not a workaround or a grey area — it's how the publisher licensed that specific key, and platforms enforce it at activation. Buying the wrong region for your account means the key simply won't redeem.
Why the same game costs different amounts by region
Publishers set regional prices based on local purchasing power and currency, not a global flat rate. A "Global" key works everywhere and tends to cost the most; an "EU" or "US" key is restricted to those regions but is priced for that market. This is also why the noticeably cheaper offer on a product page is often a specific region rather than Global — check which one before you buy.
It varies by platform
Steam enforces region locks tied to your account's country of registration for some publishers, and not at all for others. Epic, GOG, and Battle.net are region-free for most titles. When a listing specifies a region, it means that particular publisher/platform combination does enforce it — it's not something Looti adds on top.
Using the region filter on Looti
When a game has offers in more than one region, its product page shows a region dropdown above the price comparison — pick the one that matches your account before comparing prices, so you're not tempted by a cheaper offer that won't actually activate.
